Tris Speaker — Boston Red Sox c. 1910

Fascinating RPPC of Tris Speaker at bat at Hilltop Park in New York. The stadium is clearly Hilltop which was used by the Highlanders/Yankees only through 1912. The Boston uniform is consistent with their 1910-1912 uniforms. The Highlanders uniform is consistent with their 1910-1911 uniform. The Artura stampbox was in use from 1908-1924. So on that alone we can date the image from 1910-1911.

The postcard was postally used within Japan and contains Japanese writing. The stamp is a “Tazawa” stamp and was issued in 1913.

The writing on back translates as such:

The last line mentions “Speaker” which is consistent with sending this Tris Speaker postcard.
