Sam Crawford, 1909 World Series

This image of Sam Crawford was taken in 1909. We know the date not only based on the uniform, but also as it is clearly at Forbes Field in Pittsburg. Forbes Field with the distinctive wall and the dome behind the wall was constructed in 1909. Additionally, Crawford played for the Detroit Tigers, an American League team, the Pittsburg Pirates were a National League team; the only time these teams met and played in Pittsburg was during the 1909 World Series.

This image was also used for the 1910 Washington Times baseball card set.
