Image of Frank Chance taken by Francis P. Burke circa 1908. Burke was one of the foremost of Deadball photographers and based in Chicago. This image is a positive of the original negative which is in the Collection. It is likely this image was taken during spring training, perhaps at the West Baden resort in French Lick, Indiana where the Cubs trained that year. The image was published in That Old Ball Game a book of mainly Burke images by David R. Phillips who owned many of Burke’s original negatives at that point in time.
