Christy Mathewson pair of photos c. 1903 by John C. Hemment

Christy Mathewson taken by John C. Hemment circa 1903 at the Polo Grounds. Hemment was pioneer in action photography, designing his own dual lens camera, and is known as the father of the “photo finish” at horse races. Hemment took series of action shots, these two shots of Mathewson are images 2 and 4 of sequence which is shown below. The four image sequence is from Hemment’s studio album.
