Christy Mathewson, 1911 World Series

This image was taken of Christy Mathewson at the 1911 World Series. Matty is seen warming up in his black uniform, only worn during the 1911 World Series, prior to a game in the Polo Grounds. This photo was by Brown Brothers, their 108 Fulton stamp was only used between 1904 and 1915. This photo was taken only a few moments apart from this George Grantham Bain image which is in the Library of Congress Bain collection. It is a rare instance where as here another photographer captured a better image of a scene than Bain.
