1909 Huntington Grounds Opening Day panorama, Red Sox vs. A’s – $15,000

Massive panoramic image of Opening Day, April 21, 1909, for a game between the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Athletics as Boston’s Huntington Grounds.  This is image is by Falk Photo Co. based in Boston Massachusetts (no known connection to Benjamin Falk, a New York photographer).  It features the teams, and the Teel band, in front of the grandstand in their sweaters.  Notably, it contains 7 Hall of Famers. Connie Mack, Eddie Collins, Eddie Plank, Chief Bender, and Frank “Home Run” Baker of the A’s and Tris Speaker and Harry Hooper of the Red Sox.  It is also one of the earliest images of Baker, Speaker and Hooper as this was their first full year in the Majors.
