One of the finer Rube Waddell portraits in existence. This image was used for his plaque at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Note the beads of sweat running down his right temple and the wet ringlets in his hair. This is what Waddell would have looked like on the field. All other portraits of him are studio ones, neat, clean and socially acceptable, in otherwards everything the real Rube was not!
1907 is the last year Rube played for the A’s. This was taken at Columbia Park in Philadelphia, we can tell by the design of the buildings in the background beyond the outfield wall.
