This, and another photo in the collection, shows Red Faber in one of his earliest photos in a Major League uniform in the London game. Faber did not make his first appearance in the the Majors until the 1914 regular season for the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox had signed him and invited him to accompany them on the World Tour prior to his rookie season. The New York Giants were short on pitchers for the tour, so the White Sox lent him to the Giants, hence the New York uniform he appears in here. The Giants were so impressed that they tried to purchase him outright, but the White Sox declined. Faber went on to spend 20 years with Chicago on his path to the Hall of Fame.
